One-of-a-Kind Campground Located in Julian, West Virginia
Hi, campers! Huge announcement coming from 119 Rivers Edge Campground – we are now OPEN!
We are so excited to bring a new and exciting outdoor playground to the nature enthusiasts and adventurers of Julian, West Virginia! 119 Rivers Edge Campground is now open as of July 1, 2021; we offer an all-in-one ATV lodging and ATV rental destination exclusive to the Julian area.
How Do I Get to 119 Rivers Edge Campground?
If you aren’t local to Julian, don’t fret! We’re a short drive away from Charleston, West Virginia, which is often the travel hub to frequented areas like Parkersburg, Clarksburg, and Beckley; jump on I-64 coming from Beckley, I-77 from Parkersburg, and I-79 from Clarksburg. Once you exit Charleston, US Highway 110 turns into US-110S; if you reach Little Hewett Creek Road, you’ve gone too far. Instead, turn onto Adams Road/Country Highway-4 and look for signs to 119 Rivers Edge Campground at 462 Adams Road.
Things to Do While Camping
Those looking for a refresh by taking in the clean West Virginia air will not be disappointed after booking a trip to our campsite. Truly, there is so much more than just campground space available for camping. Campers can experience the joy that ATVs bring while riding along the many trails, fishing, kayaking, and even exclusive camping hookups for sewage, water, and electricity for each campsite. Trust us when we say that you will want to schedule your next trip before leaving your current trip with us!
Each campsite is large enough to hold up to four people, along with tents or two trucks, trailers, or campers. Picnic tables and fire tables are included and offer firewood for an additional charge. If you choose to rent ATVs, you can rent the vehicles for multiple days and keep them at your campsite or return them daily after exploring the miles of trails and paths along the Ivy Branch Trails.
Fishing and Kayaking
Around the Campground, you’ll find areas like Little Coal River that are perfect for fishing and kayaking. Fish while kayaking or fish near the shallows and flats to find prime catches depending on the time of year. If you’d rather kayak, grab your paddle and head out onto the open water for a nice day out on the water. The spring and summer months are great for a relaxing, warm day out; you might even find some smallmouth bass around dawn or dusk! If you choose to fish or kayak near the autumn months, it may be a bit chilly, so be sure to prepare for lower water temperatures and wind.
Cook a Meal
Cooking a meal in the great outdoors can be a challenge in and of itself, but it can also be a fun experience. Whether it’s preparing pancakes on a portable griddle for breakfast, roasting hot dogs over the fire for lunch, or foil packets with yummy protein and veggies for dinner, you can make each meal enjoyable while camping! A quick tip for cooking: be sure to clean up thoroughly and store your food away from where you sleep. This means that you do not want to keep food in your tent or outdoors but locked up tight, so animals like bears, raccoons, and insects stay away from your campsite.
Once you’ve gathered up your trash, dispose of it properly, and do not keep it near your tent or RV. Be sure to pack cleaning supplies like a broom, trash bags, tarp, and disinfectant wipes to help!
ATV Riding
The rolling hills of West Virginia are more than just a beautiful sight that is often sung about in song lyrics; they are made up of mountainous trails and terrain that are perfect for ATV riding. Our ATV rentals and trails are located next to the 50-mile stretch of the Ivy Branch Trails, which are part of the Hatfield & McCoy Trail System, one of the largest off-highway trail systems in the world, at our Campground.
While out on the Trails, you need to ensure that each driver has a valid driver’s license. In addition, all drivers and riders are encouraged to wear helmets, protective eyewear and footwear, gloves, clothing that is ideally waterproof, a change of clothes nearby, water, sunscreen, insect repellent, and anything that you think you may need while out on your adventures, like snacks and first-aid supplies.
Go Exploring
While on the Campground, you have a fantastic opportunity to simply go explore the area! Hike the trails, search for insects, catch butterflies and lightning bugs, birdwatch, collect leaves, pinecones, and sticks; you really can choose your own adventure! Plus, you can’t miss out on the natural scenery offered just by stepping outside of your tent or RV door.
Have a Bonfire and Eat S’Mores
Eating s’mores is a MUST while camping! Our favorite types of s’mores are, of course, the classic graham cracker, Hershey bar, and marshmallow trio, but there is so much more you can do! Switch out ingredients and experiment with different candy bars like Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups, roast strawberries, add them to the stack, replace graham crackers with waffles, add caramel, Nutella, bananas, bacon, or chips! Whatever you decide to try, be sure to take lots of pictures and tag us on social media!
Gaze at the Stars
There’s nothing like spending a night under the stars! Marvel at the stars above by stargazing at the gleaming sky, where you can spot constellations and dream big. The Big Dipper and The Little Dipper are often easy-to-spot constellations, but you can always get more creative and look up other formations for a more challenging pastime!
Visit Surrounding Attractions
If you’re staying for multiple days, you may have time to venture out a bit and explore the famously named Hatfield & McCoy Trails, or take a day trip to Water Ways, a local water park here in Julian, and be back in time for s’mores at your campsite.
